Ashish Sequined Silk Cropped Pants

Ashish’s Autumn/Winter 2006 collection was my first front row catwalk show – which was an amazing experience as AW06 is still one of my favourite collections to date – and ever since then the Indian-born, London-based Ashish Gupta’s work has made my heart all aflutter.

Ashish is all glamorous sequins, neon brights and tacky, humorous slogans.  It’s fun, frivolous fashion and these mid-rise, sequined embellished silk cropped pants from The Outnet hit the spot for eschewing the typical cocktail dress for a unique party season outfit.

Friday's ffffound: Christmas party

Daniel Galvin at the Corinthia Hotel

If, like me, you’re constantly striving for glossy, polished hair then you need to pay the new Daniel Galvin salon a visit. Immersed in the luxurious, marbled 5 star Corinthia Hotel in the heart of London, the second Daniel Galvin salon recently opened as part of the uhmaaaazing ESPA Life spa.

The spa team is on hand for manicures or pedicures right there within the salon making it a one stop shop for all your pampering needs.  If you want to pull out all the stops for an event, you should visit the ‘Ultimate Movie Makeover Room’ (pictured above) which Oscar-winning make-up artist Lois Burwell helped create.

The room has an old-fashioned barbers chair surrounded by mirrors, TVs, iPads and comes complete with lighting designed for make up.  It's a world first and is created to offer complete discretion and privacy to visiting celebrities, actors, actresses and privileged salon guests.

The interiors strike a balance between opulent and extravagant and calming and relaxing, with a neutral palette of earthy brown tones and clean, white surfaces dotted with fresh orchids and lots of sparkling glass, chrome and polished mirrors.

I spent last Saturday morning there and emerged, for the first time in ages, looking “done”.  I had a nourishing Detox Miracle Solution treatment, which contains Vitamin C, removes pollution and seals the cuticle for super shiny locks.

A film producer lady commented on my swishy, baller blow dry in the lift leaving the salon and another nice girl complimented my do just outside of the hotel lobby.  Two comments from complete strangers in the space of a few minutes is reason enough to book a return appointment…

Richard Herring: What is Love, Anyway?

I went to see Richard Herring last night because, despite going to Edinburgh Festival five times and seeing lots of comedy in London, I had never seen him before. Even though his mission for his latest show was, rather depressingly, “to destroy love”, I laughed my socks off* as it was resonant, well-written and very funny.

Inspired by his previous Fringe show ‘Christ on a Bike’, after which he claimed that it was foolish to mock religious people as we all believe in “made up nonsense” to get us through life, he chose to explore and attempt to define the irrational notion of love in all its blind faith glory.

Anecdotal and honest, Herring flitted between the romantic and scientific as he discussed different types of love and what they mean. He spoke about his first girlfriend (at aged ten, his first "relationship" lasted four breaktimes), the love of his life (his current girlfriend) and ended the gig with a heart-warming story about familial bonding.

Having grown up on Fist of Fun and seeing Herring amongst infantile comedians on TV, I was expecting a fairly puerile show but it was personal, reflective and I’d even go far as saying at times profound.

At Soho Theatre until Saturday 19 November 2011 and touring nationwide in 2012

*not literally; I was wearing tights.

Furla Leitmotiv Bag

It might down to excitement for the gaudy, glitzy and juuuust about right side of tacky Versace for H&M collection, but I'm strangely drawn to Furla's Leitmotiv bag.  The Italians really know how to work those in-your-face bold prints...

Doctor bag in PVC treated canvas and satin lining. This year’s Leitmotiv for Talent Hub collection is inspired by the fascinating world of tarot cards. The protagonists are the ace of cups, as symbol for harmony, honesty and joy, and the jack, representing intelligence, vitality and courage.

MR Dannijo Derek Foreal rings

I'm in New York next month and whilst I'm there I plan on trawling the US "high street" (I'm pretty sure they don't call it that in the States, do they?)

Amongst my hit list of places/ things to blow all of my Christmas money at/on, I want to check out The Man Repeller's jewellery collaboration with Dannijo which is stocked at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Henri Bendel and Saks Fifth Avenue

The whole MR Dannijo collection is good fun but I have my beady little magpie eye on the stackable, mismatched Derek Foreal rings, $38 (or $108 for set of three) which are available in silver, ox silver, gold, ox brass, or rosegold.

'Not sure if you've seen the movie Blow, but this ring is a hint of tribute to our favorite character from it with 2 tablespoons manrepeller and a gallon of DANNIJO. We like Derek Foreal stacked so buy a few. Foreal.'

Tata Naka SS12 collection

I saw Tata Naka’s upcoming spring/ summer 2012 collection earlier this week and I fell in love with these floral digital prints.

Inspired by dancewear, the new collection focuses on soft, feminine structures and flowing fabrics to create movement.

My favourite pieces were the delicate dresses in sugary sweet colours which are printed with photographs the Georgian twins took themselves of beautiful flowers in girly pinks and sunny yellows.  I already can’t wait for spring...

This is a great little stocking filler for girls who like writing letters (the best kind of girls, everyone enjoys receiving handwritten mail) or stationery (all girls love stationery too; a shiny new pencil case filled with pristine pens etc was always the best thing about going back to school), secret santa for the girl-in-the-office-you-don't-know-very-well or as a gift to yourself for kitsch thank you letter decoration in January.

Hello Argue Platform Boots, you've just made my day.  Navy leather with black laces, trim, heel and sole means that these will go with my 50% black and 20% navy wardrobe...

They remind me of the Burberry Prorsum Polished Lace-Up Wedges which I spotted, wanted, wanted, wanted then decided I couldn't afford a few months ago.  Fortunately, these ones are from Topshop and so come with a high street price.

Fashionology above knuckle rings

I love this time of year because you're allowed to spend a lot of money on gorgeous things but it's OK as it's a present for someone else!  But then when you come across something that you love and either have to wait until January until you can justify splurging on yourself again or add to the ever-growing wishlist and re-circulate, it's a pain...

Either way, these handmade sterling silver Fashionology rings are mine.

Silver Above Knuckle Ring Small, (left) and Silver Above Knuckle Ring Big

This ring can be worn above the knuckle of every finger. The band widths are 3mm and 5mm.

Charles Worthington Shine Booster Hair Treatment

Charles Worthington has bottled his 25 years of industry experience into a range of at-home hair treatments just in time for the notoriously unkind-to-hair winter months…

Not happy with creating yet another shine spray offering a temporary fix, CW wanted a product with longevity; “with this product I wanted to create a fuss-free at-home kit that works on all hair types, giving all women the opportunity to use a product that guarantees amazing and long-lasting results.”

I tried out the simple three-step Shine Booster treatment last week and - despite being sceptical of inferior "salon-inspired" DIY products - ta-dah, luscious locks indeed! The kit comprises a shine glaze, shampoo and conditioner containing a unique blend of natural oils called Luminoil Complex™ which penetrates the hair cuticles to boost radiance from the inside out.

The packaging states that there is enough for four washes, but as I've got super thick and long hair, I reckon it'll only last two or three weekly uses.  Still, comes in at a snip of salon prices and as tired, lifeless, lacklustre hair simply will not do for the party season, this is a great inexpensive product for soft, glossy and smooth hair.

CW Salon at Home Shine Booster is £19.99 and launches in Boots nationwide
