I have a thing for blue dresses: blue's my favourite colour and a dress is by far my favourite wardrobe item.  I have at least thirty dresses in every shade of blue from azure and pastel to cobalt and plenty of navy.  The latest one is by British brand Great Plains, in a beautiful mineral blue and black python print chiffon perfect for summer evenings.

We went to Paris for my birthday this May, hopping on a Eurostar after work on the Friday to arrive in time for a late dinner.  I had the perfect birthday weekend eating Michelin-starred food, drinking copious amounts of Champagne, visiting an art gallery, doing a bit of shopping, brasserie-hopping for apéro time and staying at a beautiful hotel in one of my favourite cities.

What a weird summer we've been having.  Last week, despite the grey clouds and intermittent drizzle, we escaped our muggy flat and ventured up to the rooftop garden to get some fresh air (well as "fresh" as central London can be) for a little al fresco dinner.  On my way home I picked up some of my favourite ingredients for a quick and easy summer supper: Spanish gordal olives, pea shoots, serrano ham, asparagus tips, vittoria tomatoes and mixed leaves to go with some quick-and-easy quiches and a bottle of fizz.

After four days in Ho Chi Minh City, we took a quick 45 minute flight east to Phnom Penh and checked into the charming luxury hotel Arunreas in the heart of the Cambodian capital for a couple of days.

I'm currently trying out some new Benefit goodies, including one of their new brow products.  As someone who's always had big eyebrows - apart from a wayward year of pencil thin brows as a teen - I'm sure the whole Benefit brow collection will be making its way into my daily favourites...  I'm finally giving the famous, multi award-winning hoola bronzer a go: it's natural-looking, buildable as it blends well for a more intense contour and matte with no sparkle or shimmer.  I can see why it's so popular.  I'm using it with the bronzing & contouring brush at home and with the mini brush included in the box when I'm out on the go.

When I lived in Paris I often walked past Drouant, the historic restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Antoine Westermann near the Opéra in the second arrondissement, so when we were over for my birthday weekend in May it was the perfect time to finally visit.

Ladylike lace is ticking all the boxes for me lately, especially pretty dresses which require little work - just add heels or flats and couple of pieces of jewellery and Bob's your uncle.  This navy skater dress from Oasis at House of Fraser is a perfect little day-to-night number, in fact I think it's so versatile it'll be worn to everything from weddings to work, summer evenings out and lunch at the weekend (when these photos were taken).

Last month I saw the English National Ballet's Swan Lake in-the-round at the Royal Albert Hall, which was one of the most magnificent things I've ever seen on stage.  Swan Lake is my favourite ballet - I've seen it several times and this was my favourite performance yet.
