BLACK ISSA DRESS

BLACK ISSA DRESS

My first piece of ISSA made its debut at London Fashion Week last month, which I'm sure I'll wear for years as you can't go wrong with a classic, simple black dress.  Especially a versatile one that's suitable for both the office and to dress up after hours.

I first attended an ISSA fashion show at LFW in September 2008 for the S/S09 season, back when it used to still be at the Natural History Museum.  Ultimate glamazon Naomi Campbell walked and looked sublime up close (yes, I may have been staring at her face rather than the clothes when she was on the catwalk) and I was drawn to the sumptuous fabrics and glamorous yet smart style running through the collection.

Since then, I've been eyeing up various elegant ISSA dresses - I almost bought this strapless party dress and I was toying with the idea of following in the footsteps of Kate Middleton and getting the Silk Jersey Wrap Dress but I thought it was too similar to my Halston Heritage dress.  K Middy wore the navy blue version of ISSA's now-famous, several times sold out, ruched dress for her engagement announcement in 2010 and Brazilian founder Daniella Helayel must have been very grateful indeed as it launched the fashion brand in the global spotlight as the go-to for timeless, feminine and flattering dresses for the boardroom or the beach.
