ESPRIT

Earlier this summer I went to the opening event of the relaunched Esprit store on Regent Street.  The Californian brand has had a bit of an image overhaul (see Gisele advertising campaigns) and gave its London flagship a bit of a refresh with a sleek new shopfit and threw a little soiree to celebrate.

Esprit showcased its latest collections at the party and Natasha Bedingfield gave a cracking performance.  I wouldn't say that I was necessarily a fan of her music, but I am now - she was note perfect and has a serious pair of lungs on her...

The first Esprit collection was sold from a VW camper van in San Francisco in 1968 and ever since then the label has been synonymous with easygoing, casual Californian style, selling wearable separates and simple basics.

I always thought of Esprit as a mumsy version of Uniqlo but the rebrand sees it going in a more fashion-led direction with brightly coloured jeans, smart tailored blazors and slightly dressier pieces in a natural palette.  I like this relaxed nude matte sequins and basic tee look for easy day-to-night dressing.
