Last night I battled through the crowds of the VIP preview to the Reiss sample sale which opens to the public today at The Music Room at South Molton Lane, in Mayfair.

And when I say battle, I mean battle - of all the fashion events, press shows and sample sales I've been to at this venue over the years, I've never seen it so busy! I think we came at the busiest time though, as when we arrived we could walk straight in but by the time we left there was a 60+ person queue.

Anyway, it was worth it - there is plenty of stock.  I was looking for smart workwear and a wedding guest outfit - I tried on about 15 things, could have bought about 8 of those but only came away with one.  How good am I?  I'm trying on 'restrained' for size...

Peri Blouson Sleeve Dress (£179)

Reiss asymmetric neckline dress. The Peri has long, blouson sleeves with button cuffs, while asymmetric ruching to the top contrasts against the skirt with front seam, all closing with a concealed rear zip.

It's down to £119 in the online sale, but I got it for £50 yesterday.  The discounts weren't as good as, say, the Christopher Kane sample sale - but you could pick up dresses for £50, blouses and tops for £20 and coats and jackets for £80 so it's worth a visit.
