J.Crew put together this marvellous look to show how you can parade around in evening pieces in broad daylight and not look like a total princess.  The contrast between the unabashedly girly pink sequins and the grungy khaki jacket and chunky knit works well and I want that (unusually pricey for J. Crew, dammit) skirt to wear with a shirt for work.

The Downtown Field Jacket
We gave a men's-inspired classic a chic makeover with a tailored silhouette and snappy gold buttons. The resin-coated canvas is water-resistant too (all the better for the showers of compliments, we say). Mossy brown cotton. Standing collar. Snap front with hidden zip closure. Long sleeves. Chest pockets.

Shrunken Fisherman Sweater
We brought back our four-season classic—the cable-knit beachwood cream crewneck sweater—now fashioned in a perfectly chunky cotton knit (great for keeping those chilly sea breezes at bay). Crewneck. Long sleeves.

No 2 Pencil Skirt in Sequins
A showstopping skirt in high-definition colour with high-wattage shine. Row upon row of glossy sequins were hand applied to body-skimming silk for a lusciously fluid feel—it's the epitome of modern glamour with a slightly longer length. (We're sporting ours with drapey knit tops for that play on proportion and luxe textures we live for.) Pencil skirt. Sits at waist. Back zip. Back vent. Fully lined.

It comes in azalea pink and an amazing fluorescent Caribbean green, which is less princess-y so perhaps more versatile.  (Of course neon green sequins are versatile!)

Which would you choose?
