MATCHES SS13 PRESS DAY

MATCHES SS13 PRESS DAY

I fell in love with a number of things at the recent Matches Spring/ Summer 2013 press day.

I think my favourite item was this beaded, geometric print peplum top from Peter Pilotto, which nods towards sports luxe with its mesh insert and collar trim, looks a bit futuristic with the sheer, sheeny fabrics whilst the beading adds a feminine, decorative edge.

The space was zoned into themes, with my favourite area the collection of geometric prints from various designers for next spring.  Let's take a look at some more of those bold patterns...

I don't own any Missoni (yet) but this crystal embellished pink and navy blue zigzag minidress is one of the prettiest dresses I've seen from the Italian house, so I might just have to try it on when it's out in a couple of months.

It isn't spring without some florals...  These big, bold blooming flower prints aren't for wallflowers.

Peter Pilotto's crystal, beaded and sequin embellished mini dress is another scene-stealing season highlight.

If you dare to revisit the 70s this blue, orange and red paisley-style floral printed silk jacket, ruched top and pencil skirt marries a retro-inspired print with modern cuts perfectly.

Heading back to sports luxe - which, thankfully, doesn't look like it's going anywhere for a while - how cool are these sporty little navy shorts by Isabel Marant's second label Etoile?  I can't even imagine being warm enough to wear shorts at the moment, but come summer 2013 I'll want to be wearing these with bare legs and the highest of heels.

Wear-with-anything loafers from Charles Philip Shanghai also caught my eye, in classic animal print and colourful satins which come lined with cotton and suede with a padded sole for comfort.

Thanks for showing me the goods, Matches.
