CLUBBERCISE

CLUBBERCISE

Last week I attended my first Clubbercise class at Pineapple Dance Studio, a new dance fitness craze which feels more like a night out than a workout.  It's a new-and-improved aerobics class: easy-to-follow, high impact dance routines to 90s club anthems, with disco lights and glow sticks.  What's not to like?

Three friends, Claire, Laura and Sarah, came up with concept as they hated the gym but loved to dance.  Using disco lights and lasers to recreate a nightclub atmosphere means everyone lets go dancing in the dark and gets fit in a fun, upbeat environment.  You'll burn around 500 calories in an hour, tone muscles all over your body and the flashing glow sticks are great for your arms.  The dancers stay hydrated with litres of water each class, so every time a new instructor signs up, Clubbercise donates to Oxfam to provide clean drinking water for 10 people in some of the poorest parts of the world.

Launched in April 2014, it's the fastest-growing fitness brand in the industry and they're just about to launch classes at Pineapple in Covent Garden every Friday night at 8pm from 13 February.  I'll be heading back soon!
