SKIN DEEP

Christmas party season is starting to take its toll.  Whenever I feel worn out or stressed, it shows on my skin which feels dull and tired at the moment, so I plan to head to a salon pronto and emerge with a refreshed complexion.

I've been reading about skin treatments including laser resurfacing which is a pain-free way to remove wrinkles, sun damage, scars and other blemishes that can’t be hidden with concealer. The upper layers of the skin are vaporised, leaving new skin to reform, which is soft, smooth and blemish and wrinkle free. Chemical peels seem a bit more full on for sun damaged skin and wrinkles, as the peeling agent causes dead skin to slough off and eventually peel, leaving soft new skin underneath.  Another treatment is microdermabrasion, a painless spray which exfoliates the skin and removes dead skin cells which is great for unblocking pores and zapping pigmentation.

I've never had a skin treatment, other than facials, but I'm thinking about trying a gentle microdermabrasion to start 2013 with a glow...  The award-winning chain of skin clinics SK:N has dermatologists in Leeds, Birmingham, Glasgow and most large UK cities, so you can learn more from a skincare specialist wherever you are.
