PIMMS AND PENGUINS

PIMMS AND PENGUINS

The sell-out success of 2011 is back!  On Friday I was invited to the first Zoo Lates of 2012 - I was looking forward to returning after last year and, again, it didn't disappoint.

ZSL London Zoo keeps its doors open late until 10pm every Friday in June and July.  It's a great opportunity to see the animals without the children (although there's face-painting, animal masks and costumes on hand if you feel like embracing your inner child) and discover the 750+ species along with a packed schedule of animal talks and feeds.

Get there early because there's plenty to do; check out some comedy or cabaret, go on the carousel, listen to some acoustic musicians, grab a drink at one of the bars and the International Street Food Festival has dozens of foodie stalls serving up dishes from across the globe.

We went for the best hog roast I've ever had (it's a bold claim, but I stand by it) and finished the evening dancing in a massive crowd in the silent disco.

Sipping Pimms in the zoo at dusk, surrounded by grown ups in animal fancy dress outfits bopping away to Jungle Boogie is definitely a highlight of the year so far...

Zoo Lates is 6-10pm, every Friday night in June and July 2012
Tickets are £25
