Kate Middleton Fashion Speculation

According to Warehouse's newsletter yesterday - quick, responsive marketing complete with creepy, stalkerish store manager quote - and the Telegraph's Fashion section, Kate Middleton has been causing a stir on the high street over the past few days.

ASOS PERRY Suede Fringe Heeled Shoe Boots

I bought these suede fringed heels from ASOS last year, but then I sprained my ankles and mostly wore (and wore out) my Green Flash trainers or flats for about two months. I’d almost forgotten them until a few weeks ago and have been wearing them a lot since. They’re most excellent.

Suede wedge shoe boots with fringed detail, peep-toes, and lace-up front with gold tone eyelets.

They also came in a vibrant electric blue, but I already have bright blue shoe boots so opted for good old faithful wear-with-anything black.

I don't really rate the whole 70s fashion revival, so the suede fringing is my subtle nod to The Decade Which Fashion Forgot.  They make cool swishy noises and remind me of long-haired Shih Tzu dogs which, as far as I'm concerned, is pretty cool too.

Barbara Fialho

This girl (Models 1's Barbara Fialho) has a cool look and reminds me of a young Linda Evangelista and Sophia Loren with her strong eyebrows and feline eyes.

Claudia Cifu's styling in this (unknown) magazine spread is quality; I love the impactful bright blue eyeshadow taken up to the eyebrow, black eyeliner and defined brows, the muted natural lip colour, the big 80s perm hair, glossy black nails and the heavy necklaces.

ASOS Sale Highlights

Retail is all up in the collective face with sales left right and centre.  Most stores must be trading terribly, because every newsletter and shop window of the past few weeks is desperately screaming their promotions.

In my opinion, the most dangerous promotion is ASOS and its 50% off sale.  Which is puzzling because the online giant is making giant profits.

My picks:

White structured mini dress by Aqua. Featuring asymmetric peplum detailing, with a one shoulder design and wide frill.

Motel Bandeau Swing Dress
Black and white swing dress by Motel. Featuring a bandeau style with a contrast trim to the neckline, flared swing skirt with a shirred stretch panel to reverse.

ASOS Embellished Collar Shift Dress
Blue shift dress. Featuring a contrast peter pan style collar with bead embellishment and a keyhole design to reverse and a button fastening.

Aqua Grace Dress Padded One Shoulder With Faux Leather Bow
Statement black mini dress by Aqua. Featuring a one shoulder design, with an oversized faux leather bow detail and bodycon shape.

And last but not least, the dress which has been put in my shopping basket every time I'm bought from ASOS in the past few months, and dropped at the last minute because I know I don't need another navy dress:

ASOS PREMIUM Twist And Drape Dress
Navy twist and drape dress by ASOS PREMIUM. Featuring structured shoulders, three quarter length sleeves, ruched detail to the front, draped detail from the waistband and cut out panel to the reverse.

Eva Longoria L'Optimum

This is old news (approximately nine months old), but Eva Longoria looks/looked smoking hot on the cover of the July/ August issue of French magazine L'Optimum, shot by Emily Shur.

I don't think the rest of the shoot is that great due to weird styling featuring the actress holding various objects with her eyes closed, but what a great covershot.  Gorgeous hair, playful pose, long legs and black satin Louboutins, a sheer bodycon dress and her trademark dark smoky eyes.

Cher Lloyd in Wonderland

X Factor runner-up Cher Lloyd looks surprisingly grown-up and elegant in the current issue of Wonderland magazine:

Ditching her strange “edgy” street style for a crisp white shirt, satin lady-like blouse and preppy Alice band, the teenager talks about dying her hair to look like Rihanna build her own image: ‘I wanted something that would sort of represent me, that's fiery and outgoing. So I thought a bit of a red would do me good. I want to be edgy and even if I do things wrong, who cares?’  No one cares when you look like this, love.

The controversial 17 year old is about to release her debut record, which she flew to LA to work on shortly after coming fourth on last year’s show.

I adored her first audition but after working with Will.i.am and the same producers as Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears - and basically just being a mini-Cheryl Cole - bets on for another generic autotune album...

WEEKEND IN BARCELONA

We spent a fantastic long weekend in Barcelona, spending a sunny day walking around Park Guell, gorging on delicious fruit at La Boqueria Market, touring the innumerable tapas bars, visiting Camp Nou for a victorious Barca vs Getafe match (we had killer seats, right on the halfway line), went to a classical concert at the beautiful Palau de la Música Catalana and ate fresh seafood and drank Champagne in the marina before coming back to rainy London. Barcelona, I'm not done with you, round two is calling.

Friday's ffffound

I'd really like to visit the extremely pretty coastal city Ålesund, which has been named Norway's most beautiful city. That island landscape is dreamy.

Old School Bags

Dover Street Market is selling a brand new, limited edition bag collection of four fluorescent colours from the Cambridge Satchel Company in 13 or 15 inch sizes.  Made in England and from 100% leather, the collection is a stylish modern take on an old classic staple.

I can't decide between yellow, orange, pink and green; having a wardrobe of mostly black, all four highlighter neon colours would work and as citric brights are everywhere this spring, it's win/win/win/win.
