St Martin's Courtyard Garden Party

There's a summer garden party on Saturday at St Martin's Courtyard in Covent Garden with live music, a fashion show, free Pimms (the best kind of Pimms!), strawberries and cream, goody bags and games.

The Seven Dials shopping event in May, which stretched to include the shiny new shopping destination, was good fun and there was music, cocktails, massages and a great atmosphere.

Weather permitting, this sounds like a great afternoon and if I wasn't seeing Morrissey and Prince *SCREAM* at Hop Farm Festival this weekend, I would so be there.

Sonia Rykiel Sequins

This super sparkly Sonia by Sonia Rykiel sequined open-knit tank top just caught my magpie eye on The Outnet.  It's £64.50 from £215 which is a whopping 70% off.

My reasoning for purchasing this completely unnecessary piece is as follows:

1. I love Sonia Rykiel
2. It's a great deal - I'd practically be saving money here
3. I wear plenty of black so it's not like I'll regret buying more
4. I already have the skirts, trousers, shoes and accessories to go with it
5. Sequins = sequKings (as in sequins are king.  As in they rule.  Needs work...)
6. A splash of rainbow always cheers up my sombre all-black ensembles a treat
7. It's ever so snazzy.

I absolutely do not need it but I think I've justified it well?  Help me.

(More) Typography Prints

My BFF bought me this print for my birthday.  She knows me well - I love:
  • Typography
  • Prints
  • Champagne
  • Dancing on the table
All in equal measures.  I have about twenty font-heavy prints now (see here and here) and so it's in good company...

TIME TO DRINK CHAMPAGNE AND DANCE ON THE TABLE print by The Contemporary Home from good old notonthehighstreet.com.

'We think this is the perfect way to party and that this is a lovely gift for anyone who feels the same!'

Actually, I don't think I blogged at the time (despite being totally enamoured with it and that's pretty much all my blog is - an "oh my God, I love this" list), my other BFF gave me the British Isles Type map print below from Bold & Noble last year after she remembered I mentioned how much I liked it two years before.

What awesome gifts (and walls!) and thoughtful girlies, LOVE YOU GUYS.

Tibi Nala Graphic Print Dress

#TodayImWearing - wait, wrong site - today I'm wearing this fabulous brand spanking new dress from Tibi at The Outnet.  The Nala printed satin-jersey mini dress is a lurid neon chartreuse and black with a bold graphic print in an 80s-style floral pattern, which reminds me of space invaders.

It has peaked shoulders, a keyhole back, 3/4 sleeves and comes in a really soft fabric which hangs loosely for a casual fit.  It's almost bright enough to make up for the grey drizzle outside...  SOME SUMMER.

  • £115 (from £230)
  • 77% viscose, 23% silk
  • Dry clean (DAMMIT)

Pale Pink Trousers: Isabel Marant vs Whistles

Along with every other girl in the whole wide world, I am all over the pale pink Isabel Marant Miro low-rise cropped jeans from her Spring 2011 collection.

An instant hit on the catwalk, worn by Gisele in the French label's latest ad campaign and at the top of everyone's wishlist before promptly selling out absolutely everywhere, the light pink denim jeans have inspired a search for imitation pants.  Which is odd because I'm not a baby pink kinda girl and I never wear trousers...

The faded pink looks worn out, the cropped length is casual and the cream ribbon tie fastening looks so pared-down and, dare I say it, scruffy.

Whilst Whistles' Charlie Coloured Skinny jeans are none of those things - and not even sherbet pink - the high street pair look great rolled up, the slightly deeper pink is more wearable and at £80 instead of £300, come in at a snip of the designer version.

Allumette bell chains by Allumer

London-based jewellery brand Allumer has a diffusion line called Allumette comprising simple multi-coloured ball chains with tiny neon-coated aluminium bell pendants.

Initially designed as a friendship charm for her friend, founder Natasha Leith-Smith has created the range of delicate necklaces in various bright colourways, which look great worn layered in clashing colours or on their own.

I received the black bell/ silver chain necklace at Elise Machnik's collection launch in Mayfair, I was given the orange bell/ baby pink chain combination and then I got the green bell/ purple chain version earlier this week at London Jewellery Week and they look great together!

  • £20 each
  • The tinkling bells come in black, red, orange, fuschia pink, baby pink, royal blue, turquoise, green and lilac
  • Ball chains come in black, white, navy blue, dark turquoise, turquoise, baby pink, pink/purple, red, lilac, silver, gold, graphite, yellow, orange or brown
  • Presented in a match box and gauze bag

Swarovski Hortense Ring

Today I'm wearing my new Hortense ring, which is a belated birthday present from Swarovski.

This fine jewellery inspired rhodium-plated ring with an abstract flower and filigree silhouette stands for delicacy and refinement. It is expertly crafted and set in clear crystal pavé.

I love the eyecatching rose shape, the ever-so-sparkly crystals (nothing shines quite like brand new jewellery, does it?) and that it's cocktail ring in size, but the thin, delicate band makes it an elegant day-to-night ring.  Perfect for all occasions! Also comes with a matching Hortense pendant necklace and brooch.

Jessie J at Glamour's Women of the Year Awards

Check out Jessie J at last night's Glamour Women of the Year Awards.  WOW!  It's cool having a strong signature style, but it's even cooler mixing it up and shocking everyone by going all out on the red carpet.

Wearing a strapless, floor-length sequinned Dolce & Gabbana gown, sleek long hair with classic make up and nails the singer embraced a softer, more feminine style which is a departure from her usual bold blunt bob and edgy fashion choices.

She won Glamour's 'Woman of Tomorrow' award and Emma Louise Layla's 'Best Look' award.  I bet she's thrilled with both.

Coral Suede Court Shoes

Today I'm wearing these Polly Leather Court Shoes.  I bought them in a gorgeous coral pink suede leather, but they also come in black and taupe.

asos coral suede shoes

They're so comfortable - and a perfect classic shape with a concealed platform, stiletto heel and almond shaped toe - I'm considering snapping up the other two colours too...  Have I mentioned that I quite like ASOS?

Anyone for Stripes?

Every year I want to dress up like a sailor and spend the summer months drinking Pimms on Brighton beach and hiring boats in the British countryside or along the coast (or at the very least a pedalo on the Serpentine...) which means it's time for my annual stripes splurge. If you're going to go down the nautical route, it makes sense to go for a brand steeped in authentic marine heritage and MUSTO - set up by an Olympic sailor in 1964 - ticks all the right boxes.

Stripy nautical fashion by British heritage brand MUSTO

I ordered the Stripy Barrel in navy/ cream cotton twill with canvas straps and tan leather trims to go with my dozens of navy minidresses.  I also got the Stripe Summer Tee in magenta/ white with a deep v neck in a casual cotton and jersey mix, which I plan to wear tucked into my black sequin miniskirt and new patent leather loafers...

And last but not least, for the day after any Pimms on the beach or Champagne on the boat activities, the Stripe Oth Slouch Hoody in navy/ white with a hidden kangaroo pouch and batwing sleeves in soft loopback cotton for serious comfort.
