Halloween Costume

My Halloween fancy dress of choice this year is eBay's finest, this splendid blue Marie Antoinette dress.  That's right, at tonight's party it's Ho-lloween...

Please can I wear this every day?

The Bloomsbury Lanes Vintage Fair

I'm not in London next weekend, but if I was I would be here for sure.

The Vintage Fair has been a successful event for vintage afficionados in the North for a while now, so they decided to get in on the London scene too.  Apparently, and fortunately, they've kept the Leeds/Manchester/Sheffield pricing scheme so it's cheap as chips.  (That's chips covered in gravy, if they're keeping Northern...)

What a fantastic way to spend a Saturday afternoon: grabbing a bunch of stylish second hand bargains and then bowling at the fabulously retro Bloomsbury Lanes.  Next time.

The second London Vintage Fair is on Saturday 6 November and brings 30 stalls of affordable vintage clothing, accessories and homewares plus an array of handmade clothing, jewellery, crafts and delicious cupcakes.

Hermes Pop Up Store

I love the J’aime mon carré campaign by Hermès, showcasing stylish people in New York, London, Paris and Tokyo wearing the Parisian label's famous printed scarves in their own way.

Burberry is another brand with a great viral marketing campaign and focused on their iconic staple too; Art of the Trench shows people all over their world in their Burberry trenches and everyone who owns one is invited to get involved by posting their own photographs.

When I first saw the J'aime mon carré site a few months ago it dawned on me I don't have a Hermès scarf.  Which is just appalling.

So, I'm thrilled to hear that the brand is opening a pop up store in Spitalfields 17-25 November.  And it only sells scarves.  Bingo!

Ewen Spencer's 'Three's a Crowd'

HOST Gallery always has an impressively full calendar and one of this week's three gallery events is Ewen Spencer's book launch party for 'Three's a Crowd'.

The book chronicles the NME/ The Face photographer's time with The White Stripe circa 2001-2005 and contains never-seen-before shots and outtakes of the duo.  The book is out on 22 October and Spencer is celebrating with a drinks party.   Looking forward to seeing how many people turn up in red, black and white...

Friday October 22 at 7pm at HOST Gallery, 1-5 Honduras Street, EC1Y 0TH

I hate The Outnet

IT'S NOT FAIR.  Just in at The Outnet and immediately top of my wishlist is Halston's city thigh-high suede boots.

Stride into striking new-season style with Halston's electrifying cobalt blue suede thigh-high boots, with a 5 inch heel, square toe, stitched paneling, a sloped trim and a zip at inner leg with designer-stamped anthracite zip pull.

They were originally £1,295 but are now £388.50 and I am having a love affair with them.  I love thigh-high boots, I love cobalt blue, I don't (yet) own any Halston and Lord 70% off is a saving and a half...  Why hasn't SJP been photographed in these, seeing as she's Mrs Halston?

I want to wear them with my nude silk minidress, bright red lips and a smug smile.

Mulberry's Loopy Leopard

It’s so often such a fine line between good tacky and bad tacky, and Mulberry’s latest Loopy Leopard collection is veering dangerously towards the latter.

Plum Loopy Leopard Patent Leather Bayswater, £850

If you asked a bunch of little girls to design a handbag, I'm sure the majority would include reds, pinks and purples in a pretty, splodgy pattern.  In spite of this, I still like it.

Its garish, in-your-face print could feasibly be all over chavvy markets up and down the country, but with Mulberry’s patent gloss and hefty pricetag - ta-dah! - the new Bayswater is a designer must-have.

Viktor & Rolf Bridal Shirts

I love the eccentric design duo Viktor & Rolf and their obsession with experimental tailoring.  Their Spring/ Summer 11 collection in Paris this weekend included innovative takes on the button down shirt, oversized men's shirts and typically exaggerated proportions.

Focusing on lots of collars and cuffs again, their traditionally avant-garde collection blends menswear with bridalwear beautifully.

Collars adorned with pearls, shirt dresses covered in blue and orange ribbons of fabric, strong statement shoulders and billowing, voluminous silk was the order of the day.

I want the oversized white dress with the zebra sequinned pattern more than I want this*.

(*Good Lord, this certainly isn't true.  Maybe a close second. Fabulous, anyway.)

J.Crew's Autumn/Winter 10 Looks

The women's section of J.Crew showcases some pretty, feminine outfits from their new Autumn/ Winter collections.

Some focus on the obligatory dull Autumnal palette and plain casualwear too much, but I love the mixed textured separates and clashing tones of green in this Burberry rip-off, complete with trench and strappy platforms over sandals.  Beautiful.  Must start wearing more moss, mint and turquoise with khaki...

Love this flirty, girly look too.  Never been a fan of lilac and often put off by fussy "cute" adornment - this look has ruffles and ribbons and a flower - but as an ensemble, with the polka dots and high hemline, it works for me nonetheless.  Perfect for a Saturday morning at Borough Market.
