Balmain AW 2010/11

Balmain AW 2010/11

It was the Balmain AW 2010/11 collection yesterday as part of Paris Fashion Week and Christophe Decarnin is still focusing on the strong shoulder and stuck to his signature sexy, tight and short party dresses for party girls.

The collection was wearable, more feminine than the previous season's harder military focus and consistent with his celebrated aesthetic; shredded edges, military buttons, skintight lamé floor-length gowns and lots of flesh.

The collection featured transparent blouses worn with velvet brocade coats, plenty of gold embellishment with rich purples and plum, with the standard lashings of black. Very 70s rock and roll (in a good way).

I'd love to see Angelina rock this look, below.  One part vampy dominatrix (girl likes her leather), one part Lara Croft (girl likes her army bullet belts) and one part sweeping floor-length Oscar glamour (Brad Pitt and Angelina are skipping this year's awards but I'd love to see this on the red carpet on Sunday).

I'm almost getting bored of Balmain.  Every season brings in more rapturous praise from the fashion press and more covetable pieces I can't afford.  Sigh.  Go away...
